Forget Symonds and Hussey - if Piyush Chawla was English, we'd have the world in a spin!
Which overseas player would make the biggest difference to the England side? Young Indian tweaker Chawla has shown he has the temperament and talent to rule the world of spin. If only he could don the three-lions sweater...

If you were asked to name a cricketer you’d like to see in the England Test team, I’m sure a few perpetual contenders would crop up.
Michael Hussey’s stroke play, Andrew Symonds’ power, Brett Lee’s pace or Muttiah Muralitharan’s wicket-taking ability would all be greatly desired by England fans. But I am here to tell you why there is one I would covet above all others – the young Indian Piyush Chawla.
There is a definite lack of world-class leg-spinners in the game at the moment, and one less in international cricket now that Shane Warne has left the game. With the exception of Monty Panesar and perhaps Graeme Swann, it seems that a dearth of spinners in the English national side has continued.
The state of the other aspects of the squad, namely batsmen, pacemen, all-rounders and wicketkeepers, seems to be in relatively good health.

Ponting is the one which would the English national squad the most good. The issue doesn't seem to be the quality of the players or their skills, it's the non-team which comprises the English Squad. The magic Ponting seems to bring (aside from his own magnificent skills when he's not suffering from the yips or Having a Sook) is, like Shane Warne, (and Michael Clarke I suspect) his ability to build and develop a team. He didn't bat so well for the Hoffs but their talk about him remains strongly positive. Happily for Australia, Ponting is unlikely to be successfully kidnapped by the Poms any time soon. And poor Pup is unavailable due to some family health issues. We all feel really sad for him and his family right now.
